Confidence in oneself comes with performance. For elected MPs, confidence stems out of perfomance. For that matter, most tangible benefits to the province or an electorate has to be felt by the people, and people feel their leader being closer to them and vice-versa, the leader feels his people much closer to him. Confidence only come out of such relationship between the leader and his follow. If leaders dont built a good relationship with people and represent their corporate views and bring corporate developments into the province or electorate and he is out of touch with his people, then the confidence factor can be hard to get. How can a leader be confident when he has no touch with his people? Because at the end of the day, people make their choice of leadership. At the end of the day, the people will speak through the ballot papers.

There are lots of sitting MP's at the moment have been out of touch with their people and are trying their best to work-up, or they call it physch-up feelings of confidence using several means, maybe the media, maybe their claims of achievements. Such false stir-ups cant fool the people, because they already judged their leaders.

With this yard-stick, my personal view of Ipatas is that, he has done his bit in the past 10 years, and the people with speak out their response to his performance through the ballot-papers. Not need for him to work-up his confidence by aiming for the top job, let the ballot papers speak. I have a feeling he is nervous a bit this time around. Why do i say that? Engans are not fools, being a prime ministerial aspirant, my guess is, that become his flatform for campaign, because definitely, 10 years of fruitless political blunders have made sure his tail is behind his legs.

Well said, CC1

'Confident' leaders only exist to divert attention from their failures. Ipatas' aspiration to serve as PM is nothing but a smokescreen to cover for his corrupt acts of misappropriation, embazzlement and lack of vision for the province in the past 10 years. The people will not be emotionally stirred nor fooled. Ipatas is on his way out with his tail between his legs!! (Mark my words!)
