Hi, all
Enga is a unique province in the country admired by most feared by minority for minority's animalistic actions in Enga. Most of the social problems are result of Engans not being submissive to the traditions and cultures of Enga. Can anyone out there tell me what is the current trend of cultures like Traditional dance (Mali) in Enga.

Bro, Sync
This is something sensitive that you have to be aware of. Dont just express what you think. Enga is worst influenced by western cultures and as a result of conflict between Enga and western culture alot of social conflicts are apparent in Enga. It will be even worser when you will be walking with three legs. Can you post something signifcant here so that other Engans living elsewhere can know what is the current state of our traditions and cultures.
Enga has least economice activity and is blessed with diverse cultures which can drive the economy forward with tourism programs being intergrated.
I have dreams for Enga and just wanna know different views hence dont conclude as an individual pls.

The root cause of problems in Enga is the tribal fights and the aftermath that it leaves. This is supported by the lack of accountability by individuals of the resources and properties they own or more so they lack to own, especially resources that can generate an income. The 90% of Enga land is rugged and is not sufficient for any cash crop, apart from a few patches of coffee trees here and there. People feel that they don’t have anything to lose if they resort to fight to resolve issues. Regardless of how much traditional unique culture we have where we can generate income through tourism, tribal fights will still deter tourists. My solutions is to get as much people educated as possible to reduce the illiterate rate from 95% (guess off course!!) to at least less than 50% by 2050. Only then common civilized sense will prevail.

Bro, dont narrow you mind. Western influences such as fashion, partying, weddings and few others are causes of it. These cultures never uphold and value the traditions and cultures. You go partying in night clubs and utilizing your bu brain you cause problem at home and in the streets. Previously Engans were in men's house, decisions were made with collective brains. Furthermore traditional dances as part of the traditional entertainment did not brought any troubles to the societies like now modern entertainments acompanied with alcohols. The end results are apparent you klia.

I was thinking more about the effects Tribal fighting has on the community.

Tribal fighting has been around thousands of years prior to western influences.

The problem with alcohol is that people don't drink responsibly. Any consenting adult that drinks should be aware of the effects alcohol consumption has on themselves.

Responsible drinking is defined "as drinking which is legal, informed and considered". Individuals need to be responsible for their actions and held accountable.

Can you really blame western society if individuals don't drink responsible?

Cheers

km, tribal fights were traditions of Enga and occured for geniune reasons with careful planning from start to end. It occured either accidently or through careful planning from the men's house. Alcohol related problems on the other hand is like adding fuel on to the fire. Some Engans are not responsible drinkers. Drinking makes them feel like heros which results in domestic violence to tribal fights.
If you can look back to the traditional socialization in Enga. Every activities proceed through the decisions made by the elders of the village or the men's house. Now people are utilizing their personal throughts and feelings. As a result of this fights are norms in Enga.
Its better if we all Engans come up with strategies to combat these current issues in Enga and uphold the traditions and customs of Enga. Respecting the cultures, traditions and beliefs of the past kept Enga peaceful in the past (source, Engan aging people)
