Subject: Wapenamanda - Wabag Road Reconstruction ?

Who is now responsible for the forever delay of the Wapenamanda – Wabag road reconstruction?

A funding of K22 million was purposely released for the road construction (last November) and to date, there is no evident of any form of road construction. What is going on? The current status of the road link between the two districts has further deteriorated at an exponential rate with humongous port – holes growing by the minute. Where is the fund money? Who now has the legal right to make use of the K22 million, or has the government of the day intervened with its political interests.

Majority of the new Passenger Motor Vehicles and privately owned vehicles that frequently commute the Wapenamanda – Wabag road have broken down and this has cost the owners a hell lot of money for repairs and services of their vehicles; all because of the current road condition.

A recent trip by PMV from Wapenamanda – Lae has me wondering – the road condition between Wapenamanda – Lae is just about perfect. Currently, there is on going road constructions and certain parts of the Okuk H/Way only need slight furbishing before all is complete.

Why is it taking so long for the Wapenamanda – Wabag reconstruction when the money for funding this second time around project has been made available?

I'm wondering way??

Den'Den

Den'Den,

This is an important concern. I have just found out that the K22.0m is safe in a trust account purposely for this section of the Enga Hwy. An australian consultant team (Cardnos) is still working on scoping the work and the tender documentations.
