Wabag as capital of Enga is located in the midlle interms of distance but awkward geographically speaking for development and expansion, such as airport to take F100 jets.
We have been and continue to be victims in MT Hagen to Western Highlanders only comparable to the Keremas and Goilalas in POM. Even worst than this group of people.
It is time for our leaders to push for this so it does not come late after Porgera is mined out. We need a capital with a close by airport to survice the people. Wapenamanda airport can not expand further to take the jets. Therefore Wabag should be downgraded to a district and a new Provincial Capital should be built.
I think it should be moved toward Wapenamanda or Surinki in Laiagam. These two areas have land mass that can accommodate airports enough to take jets.
Secondly Enga needs a proper Provincial Hospital and not just mission run hospitals.
We have spent enough money to grow Mt Hagen. Its time we invest our money from our land on our own land and not spend in Hagen for these thieves to harvest the benefit.
I personally think airports enough to land jets can be built in Surinki or somewhere in Tsak valley where there is enough flat land to accommodate such.
Anyway, I am from Last Wert in Kandep so get my service from Mendi.

i think, after porgera shuts down, current influx of people up that way will subside, unless the proposed pyrethrum factory gain enough momentum to retain few more. relocating wabag town will be just as hard as its current state of hard-to-expand syndrome.
regarding, airports, if we cant afford fokker 100, we can seek ways to re-double the service schedules of short-distance landing and taking-off planes like twin otter and dash 8.
