This project is well over due. More vehicles, PMV buses have broken down as a result of the road conditions between Waps - Wabag. From memory, money was allocated about two years ago by AusAID. For the Governor to make mentioned of this segment of the road that feeds the commuters to the capital of the province is such a shame.
This is a mere indication that the province lacks proper planning and politicians are not helping at all.
Fast-track resealing: Ipatas
ENGA Governor Peter Ipatas has called on Minister for Works Don Polye to fast-track the resealing of the Wapenamanda-Wabag section of the Highlands Highway. Mr Ipatas said the road had become a human death-trap, as potholes had made travelling difficult and frightening for the public. He said the road deserved special attention from relevant Government authorities as it was an important infrastructure that linked the giant Porgera gold mine and the densely populated western part of the province. Mr Ipatas said he did not see any reason for a delay of the project because AusAID and the Government had allocated funds for the resealing.

Polye is now becoming a snake. Playing delay tactics to have some share into his own pocket. If he is a true leader, he will respond to Ipatas' appeal right now. He is the transport & civil aviation minister and what the hell is he waiting for??
Indeed, the road condition is now in a total mess. To drive over pot holes on unsealed roads in still OK but vehicles need to give sudden breaks to go over sealed potholes.
