Pandan sworn in as Clerk of Parliament

NEW Clerk of Parliament Don Pandan was sworn into office yesterday.

Soon after taking oath, he promised to uphold the integrity of Parliament and maintain neutrality at all times. �I will be advising MPs and the Speaker according to law,� Mr Pandan said.
Also present at the Government House yesterday were former Clerks Tony Elly (1974-1984), Simon Pentanu (1984-1993) and Ano Pala (1994-2006).
Mr Pandan, 48, from Enga, is married with seven children.
He started work as a parliamentary reporter in 1982 and worked his way up to become the acting deputy Clerk in October 1996. He was confirmed deputy Clerk later that year.
He was appointed acting Clerk on March 9 this year and was confirmed as Clerk by the National Executive Council on Sept 12.
He will serve a six-year term as Clerk of Parliament.
