AIPIT will be contesting the Enga Regional Seat, yet again in 2007 and this time for the third time. There is an old jungle saying that not many people succeed the first time round especially in climbing a Pandanus Tree but repeated attempts does bring experience and more so confidence and you are likely to bring that Karuka down sooner or later and I have this confidence swelling in me that 2007 will be that year of success. My Good Lord and the Enga People know that the SUCCESS will be for the 400,000 Engans and other nationals and expatriates living in the Enga Province. Upon winning the Enga Regional Seat, I will, with the help of the Good Lord allow the beautiful dream I have for our Province to come to pass. While I am keen and indeed will be reviving my previous policies like Eradicating Tribal Fighting, Banning Alcohol, Eradicating Corruption and Installing Transparency, Staging Enga Cultural Show, Reintroducing Buy in Enga Policy, Putting Up New District Offices like I funded K300,000 each for Wapenamanda and Wabag in 1994 Budget and Upgrading All Existing Roads and Building a few essential ones like Paiela, Maramuni and Yengis Roads, I am particularly excited about a new policy that I plan to embark on upon taking up the Governor’s Office and that is about Healthy Living for the Enga People whereby ALL Enga families can be STRONGLY ADVISED OR SAY ALMOST FORCED to do away with the Thatched Roof Houses and move towards Permanent Housing. I am particularly keen on this new Policy as while being in the wilderness for the last 12 years or so I have assisted, I repeat, ASSISTED many Enga people to build over 200 PERMANENT HOUSES, whether they be for schools, health centers, churches, trade stores, offices and even permanent houses for dwelling and the joy that I get on seeing their excitement and happiness as they move into their permanent buildings is just beyond explanation and a feeling that not a Million Kina or even Ten Million Kina can buy! That’s what keeps me going on and on and on, NOT fame, greed nor wealth! We may now ASSIST thousands of Villagers to put up their permanent houses being built in the villages for a much, much healthier living in the villages for my beloved Enga People! BELIEVE YOU ME, ENGA WOULD BE A OVERDEVELOPED PROVINCE IN THE 5 YEAR TERM THAT I AM IN THE ENGA GOVERNOR’S OFFICE! As you are also aware, on the national level I have been the pioneer President of the once famous but short lived Advance PNG Party. I am thankful of my brother, John Pundari for giving me the opportunity to serve on that post. I was also the pioneer First Secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development. I am thankful of Jimson Sauk for giving me the opportunity. It is through these Offices that I really saw what goes on in the life of a Member, Governor, Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and the Prime Minister and their so called advisors. I WAS SO CLOSE YET SO FAR AWAY TO EXECUTUTE MY VISION! I have had a look around and seeing that there is not a Political Party that I can easily join and work together with to see my dreams and visions come to pass for my people, I and a handful of like minded nationals have decided to revive the People’s Transparency Party where some 70 likeminded nationals are going to be endorsed. It will not be an easy task as we go about Prayerfully identifying Candidates and endorsing them throughout the country and then ensuring that they get Elected. We will be happy if we win one seat, thank God, preferably mine as the Fight Against Corruption will be started at the source of this dreaded disease, that is at the Floor of the National Parliament. We will be overjoyed and will Praise God if we win more than one Parliament Seat as the Fight Against Corruption will be strengthened! But Glory to God it would be God’s Love and Mercy manifested to the people of an over blessed country, yet being ruined by the day, if we win anything from 17 to 27 Seats. Let me remind you that that’s the magic number range that every former Prime Minister and with due respect even the current one who is breaking his promise not to seek re-election seem to be dreaming on so as they want take the lead once more in forming the next Government in 2007! Some former Prime Ministers think they can Fight Corruption after the 2007 National Elections! One would wonder what they have been doing all this time when they had been in Parliament for decades! A few excited Governors seem to be having that dream as well and some how feel that their fast gained (stolen?) wealth can elevate them to the highest Office in the country. Indeed, any one of these Leaders we have been used to could do it if the 5.5 Million People of Papua New Guinea allows them to proceed with their plans. That’s why this Fight against the giants of greed, pride, wealth etc must start now leading to the 2007 National Elections so that their plans, mostly egoistic and corrupt plans, can be destroyed and goodness taking over for the first time in our beloved country! The responsibility of deciding who will look after you for the next five years will be placed fair and squarely on the 5.5 Million People of Papua New Guinea come July 2007 so we must Vote with Care and Understanding. It is with this background that I have decided to approach my Relatives, Close Friends and Colleagues and Christian Brothers and Sisters and indeed any Papua New Guineans and Expatriates who wants to see a REAL FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION IN THIS COUNTRY BEING TAKEN UP ONTO THE FLOOR OF THE PARLIAMENT for assistance in whatever way that you can be able to assist so that I can attend to some very urgent matters before kick-starting the inevitable David Versus Goliath fight both at the Provincial level and more so at the National level. The first and foremost thing on the Agenda is to get the People’s Transparency Party revived and then get some Leaflets and Cards printed and of course start identifying and endorsing the 70 or so Candidates throughout the country. I am sure that I have convinced you of the inevitable fight that we all have take up arms in so we need your support in cash, kind, Praying and actual Voting. I therefore request that you consider contributing whatever you are able and as the Good Lord convicts you. Those who are unable to contribute in cash or kind are requested to hold this War Fare in Prayers to the Good Lord earnestly and continually. I wish to call upon all good hearted nationals to save up and go to your respective towns and villages throughout the country and ensure a Honest and God Fearing Candidate is elected to the National Parliament for your Open and Regional Electorates as this is a Fight Between Good and Evil. For too long the evil and corrupt have been ruling this nation and those elected go in to support them and nearly all are weak to take up a fight against the evil! Let us all take this fight to the Polling Booths as that’s where the destiny of our country is determined for every five years. You owe this to yourself and your children! Finally I urge you once again to see what you can do to take back our respective Provinces and indeed this nation back for ourselves, our children and generations to come rather than giving it to the dogs as we have doing time and again for decades! I and eagerly await your response as I prepare myself for this inevitable War Fare against CORRUPTION, the dreaded disease that has literally ruined our Provinces and indeed our beloved over blessed country! Let me re-iterate your visions: 1. To build permanent homes for Engans, which will improve the standard of living. 2. Root out corruption in PNG. These two tasks seem very simple to put on pen and paper, but how can you do it? Can you highlight your action plans to achieve this? pardon me if i am ignorant, but, i personally like seeing plans to achieve those great visions. Many have contested the elections with great vision, but once they get in, they dont know where to start implementing their visions, because they happen to have a vision but lack the plan to implement their vision. Corruption is endemic and systemic, if i may use Sir Mekere Morauta's words in explaining corruption in PNG. Corruption is rooted in the system and one man can not root out corruption, even for that matter party. Multitudes contested the preceding elections under the banner of uprooting corruption in PNG, but once they got in, they become smeared with corruption. It was hard for them to abstain from it because it is endemic in the system. Therefore, your vision as it seems so easy on pen and paper, needs proper planning. You have to have like-minded people if you are serious. I have seen NGO's and other organisations have been set up to address this issue of corruption in PNG, but, they dont seem to be effective in addressing this issue because once you stand up against it, you are an easy target for corruption itself and one way or another, corruption is like a giant that will swallow you. All i need to see is your plan on how to address this endemic issue that has taken its roots everywhere in society. If you have the vision, how have you diseminated your vision to others who are with you, and are you 100 percent sure that they are with you? If your vision does not transpire to the people below you, you will fight a lone battle, and you will give up on the way. I am just providing a critical view on this issue, not a criticim. Mind you, this is no easy task. If you have that vision, there has to be people who have that same vision, not wolf in sheep skin just to get into parliament, but people who are willing to sacrifice their own lives and money to root out this evil. When i say own money, if it means sourcing financing to root this evil with your own money, apart from the public purse. How will control those who are working under you? how will you control your wife, or your children, or your relatives, or your own business associates, school mates, political affiliates, etc. If you are able to convince those closest with you, with you vision, and they are for it 100 percent, physically and financially, then i believe this evil can be rooted out. If not, this can only be a dream. Your story about David against Golliate, he surely depended on Gods mighty power, but he had to have his own weapon to fight Goliath, he had to grab 5 pebble stones, which God used to put down Goliath. All i am asking is, God will only be at you side when you provide him the pebble stones and take a step forward in addressing this issue. Come up with your plans on how to root out this evil and i might be at your side providing my support with my vote and assist any way i can. As for the modern buildings for Engan people, i have to tell you thats a big ask. If you are looking at general hygien for the people of Enga, then you would engage people to carry-out training sessions in villages on how to prepare healthy food etc. Maybe all they need is water supply, some basic services like health, etc. This will go a long way in supporting your view of living a healthy life. SDA's seem to do well in this area, could use their curriculm etc, to emphasise healthy living in the village, that is achievable than building permanent building for all Engans. I salute you for a job well done. I've lived 37 years of my 43 years away from Enga in a neibouring Highland's Province, where I commenced my education in 1968. After completing year 12 in 1981, I got employed there, started a family of my own and built myself a good size home in the Main Centre of that particular Province. I've voted in this province all my life, grown to love this place and its people. I was honoured even to the extend of been adopted by a Chiefly family, as their first born son. Something I treasure very much even to this days. I only visit home on rare and special occations. Normally this visits were very brief and would only last a night or two. Three nights in Enga and it was a night mare for me (even though my kids and wife seem to enjoy every moment of it). The reason being, there seems to be so much insecurity, very intense and a spirit of fear that always seem to be present everywhere. After dinner, hot on the agenda seems to be Tribal Fights, followed closely by Politics which always seems (to me) associated, one way or another. The scary part during my nights there which always makes my hairs on the back of my head stand, is when there is a shout (wii) echoing from the hills in the chill of the night sending shivers through my spine. All of a sudden all convesations in the house comes to a stand still as someone says "...EH, KANAU, WII MENDE LALUMU ONGO SAA. PIAPAE SINKIN SAREN". The nights in Enga are very different to that of the Province, I've lived in for a good part of my life. Tribal warfares are hardly heard off apart from 1 or 2 that has been gone on for a good number of years, that we hear of in the news. Apart from those, tribal warfares are becoming very, very few. The reason Tribal Warfares are very scares in this province is because of 2 things apart from entering into business ventures. 1. People have returned to the land and are working on the land (something which we Engans can be proud of for showing them how to grow food and build houses). Their produces reaches to big markets in Lae and Port Moresby cities which results in big bucks being brought back to the rural areas. 2. With the money earned they take it back into their villages and develop their rural areas by building very good modern "Homes". With good houses build in most districts of the province with only one district because of its remotness, the Provincial Government as come good by providing electricty into every districts with their "Rural Electricfication" program. Now with many new modern homes being built in the rural areas, I've witnessed people becoming very concious of their homes (their investment). To avoid conflicts blowing out of portion into a full scale tribal warfare that would literally destroy their homes, people have now resolved to settle their differences in a more civilized way. Because of that, I've witnessed firsthand serious problems that would have warranted tribal warfare been brought under control. This is simply because, people have now build/invested their "prides" in their new homes and businesses, that warring tribes and clans on both sides cannot afford to lose. Mr. Aipit, your vision is achieveable and is very, very possible. Mr Aipit, remember all "Great things has a small beginning". It doesn't require millions of Kinas to make it happen. All it requires is CONCERNED PEOPLE like us to SELL and EDUCATE the vision to all our people back home. In the Bible, in the Book of Hosea 4:6, God told the Prophet Hosea that His people suffered greatly, basically because of the LACK OF KNOWLEDGE. This is the scenario in Enga. C'mon guys enough talking. If we are really concern about our people back home, why not rally together and go to Enga and Educate our people rather then sitting behind the keyboard. I've heard Mr. Aipit had led the way and done it. I admire you for having a big heart for the People of Enga and this nation. I see you having no nonsense approach to Corruption and Bribery. A straight shooter, very honest, loyal to your wife and kids and a true Patriot. Fighting Corruption for others will be a hard task. As for you, its nothing, because you don't practice it and its not in your blood. A man of great integrity and principle. Have faith in what you believe and remember nothing is impossible.
