Ladies and gentlemen of this Forum:

It moves me with tears and extreme sorrow to inform you that my father, Enga Anderson Aipit, as passed away yesterday evening (December 28)! Mr. Anderson hailed from the Wairin tribe of Laiagam but he stood tall and proud as an Engan and Nationalist. Shunned by Engan politics, he became a successful entreprenuer running his own furniture and upholstery business in Port Moresby. Though a highly qualified physicist, Mr. Aipit was a self-taught economist and public administration expert who knew how to run a bureaucracy and province with effectiveness and vision. His business employed many needy Papua New Guineans because he believed in "PNG made" products and in keeping employment and incomes local. He was a loving father to his 6 children and faithful husband to his wife, Linda. He was also a devote member and elder of the Christian Apostolic Fellowship, a Pentecostal congregation.

The reason why his people of Laiagam and Sirunki did not muster votes that he needed to run for office was because he was despised for his sheer integrity and morality! He was not willing to bend the rules to gain votes through vote-buying sprees, donations, etc.! His campaigns were strictly transparent but he offered good governance, transparency and moral leadership with clear-cut decisiveness. Never has he been known to conspire in hijacking ballot papers, using armed weapons, or bribing citizens and counting officials by any means. He was a man who "walked the talk" and was alone on that part! No leader in Enga can compare to his integrity and down to earth approach to issues on corruption and matters concerning the people's needs. As Administrator, he never defined "people" as the masses or subjects to be ruled over, but endeavored to appreciate and single out each and every individual by need and character.

He spoke out defiantly against the national government and the Enga Provincial Government about their policies and mishandling of public resources, and risked his life and reputation selflessly. But unfortunately, he passed away without seeing his dreams materialize. Many of you may have read his eloquent writings on this forum (Enga Wai Pii) and PNGSCAPE so you may have felt the genuineness, humility and sincere love he had for ENGA and PNG.

Daddy Anderson, Enga has truly lost a Leader of your character and high moral standing! I thank GOD for giving you to us, though only for a disappointingly short while! Knowing you since my birth, has been a blessing and inspiration! I will love and cherish you always!

Rest-In-Peace, Papa!

Stephen P. Kikala
