Actually it's been on a few boards. The previous owner recently posted to me when i was answereing a post about crooked toes.
The bird she gave me (and another person) had crooked toes. Well mine has one crooked toe. It was on a gamebird site. Someone asked if the crooked toes was genetic or not and when i answered that it was not gentic, it's a result of too much humidity during incubation (I did alot of research on this before i bred him). She replied asking how ethical it was for me to breed him after agreeing not to.
I have had him aprox 3 yrs now. She owned him 6+ months. And i agreed to pay postage only, but i sent her extra. I felt she should at least get a bag of feed out of the deal.
I've sold many a bird and i feel that i can make suggestions on care before they leave here, but once they are in the car (or even in the mail) they are not mine anymore. I understand her feeling the agreement was betraid, but unless there is more to the story, she should not be such a pain about the deal, since he is healthy and very very happy. (I've also gotten many a compliment on his offspring. Which i do explain to buyers the father has a crooked toe. No one else seems to mind.)
I think after this long the agreement is null and void. I also took responsibility when i started breeding him, & would have culled or kept any deformed chicks had he had any, i would NOT have sold them (or given them away) but taken full responsibility for them had any been produced. I guess i want to end it by saying that after this long, someone who wanted to get rid of their gentic regect (or so they thought) for free, should not still be complaining about a verbal agreement being broken. When the new owner has done thier research and given it a healthy and happy life.
Anyway that's my side of it. :)
