Shane,
in croom I also found cracked corn on some of the forest roads. We asked a FWC officer about the corn and he knew nothing about it. But he will keep a eye on the area. Two days later when talking to the same FWC officer he said that the corn was spread out to get a turkey count and they never let any of the officers know about it. He says he sat and watch to see if he could catch anyone throwing corn the whole next day and night. And then he found out that the FWC put the corn out!! (lack of communications)and a waste of the officers time. As far as ocala goes I know folks that live on the edge of the forest and they tell me the deer are everywhere (who knows)I know that there is a poaching problem in ocala like yourself I have spent many nights camping in ocala And I have heard some shots at night too. The spot light "Rule" should be no spot lighting in any wildlife management area as far as I am concerned. This would stop a bunch of poaching. If a poacher sees the FWC officer first he has a chance to dump any guns he/she might have. And if spot lighting was illegal they should all get a small fine. Now I love to watch the deer at night with a light, but if it will cut down poaching to make shining illegal Im all for it!! I do think that there is a poaching problem on alot of WMA. Hey listen to this Im driving home cutting right thru the sand hill hunt club from our lodge and I had the spot going (no guns of coarse)drove right past a FWC officer and he never stopped me to check if I had any guns (go figure)
Happy hunting,
Ken
