I don't feel much like I have will power. I know i have fear. (fear of health problems...fear of being stuck in a fat bod the rest of my life). I also feel afraid to not excercise.

I remember one year a few years back when I was actually doing pretty well with dieting. I don't even know if I had gotten down as far as I have now. But anyways that Thanksgiving I got up and began cooking the stuffing and prepping the bird. We were to have a huge group....8 or 9 I think...and I went from there to the shower to fixing up the dining room table with the linens and china, etc....to then making the horves douves, etc. Before I knew it the people were all arriving and I barely had time to put on a fresh coat of lipstick. I drank a lot of water since I was in the kitchen a lot and hot. My hubby and I cook together so it was enjoyable and not feeling alone or chore-like. But When I sat down to the mid-afternoon dinner it was still about serving people and refilling glasses and such. I had a little of everything....but no gravy or butter. I think I skipped the rolls too. White meat turkey, salad, small serving of stuffing, half a small sweet potatoe, small serving of cranberry sauce....a sliver of pie. The reason this sticks in my mind so well is that the next day I was down 3 lbs!!!!! I had evidently ran myself a lot and kept moving and had only basically had the one meal. We had a huge veggie tray around with raw veggies and I had snacked on those...but otherwise had not really eaten that much.

So try this....have some kind of a diet shake for breakfast (the spiruteen shakes made with water are only about 100 cal but packed with protein) and bring a veggie platter with a fat-free dip (hidden valley ranch fat free??) as ammunition to the gathering. Then make yourself a moving target!! Be the server du jour!! Run back and forth to bring everyone else their pie and refills on drinks!! LOL! You will see so much pie, etc, you will feel like you ate it all!!! If you keep moving people will be less likely to notice you sitting there not eating, and therefore less likely to push food on you. The best answer to anyone is that you are stuffed...not that you are on a diet. If you have had any kind of car trip you can say you had to sit so long in the car....all sorts of deflective excuses! hehe!

Well, I am holding my own....(crosses fingers and toes!)

We have quite the snowfall here since last night...soooo pretty!!!!

hugs,
Dreemy
