Subject: Crossover... the world of endless possibilities....

Okay, crossover lovers, time to discover the unknown frontier. One of the things that you guys might want to decide is if you want to limit it to AtS or no limit [I know there is some disagreement]. It is up to you. The members of your group are:

Some of you have done this before, but there are a few newbies, so members of the group may want to introduce themselves and help out / answers any questions. You may want to determine on how you will decide on your recommendation and have a volunteer coordinate all of the suggestions and send on the final recommendation. The time frame is from Feb 17- Mar 3 for each team to pick the story to represent you and your ship. If you need to consult criteria or rules, visit the website at:

I would prefer it to be just Ats, because I don't really watch anything else, that someone would write a crossover about.
I don't really enjoy other crossovers with other TV shows.
But, if everyone votes, whichever wins we will do, so it's fair.

that we may head into crossover territory of shows that people don't watch. But then again, it's the sign of a good writer who can get us to understand stories we've never been a part of...

.. but why not list shows that we enjoy. AtS is an obvious one, but most of us have at least seen Harry Potter, if not read a book or two. Also, some like me are insane Trekkies, and I'd venture to say that Star Trek TNG or DS9 would be familiar enough to follow.

If we could agree on a few shows, then a broader range that would in all likely hood represent what most BtVS viewers themselves watch, could be represented.

Just in case this idea is ok, Here's a list of shows I would feel comfortable reading, at the very least, a mixed storyline of:

Star Trek: Any

Harry Potter: only saw the movies..

Charmed

AtS

Also, if a popular show other than Angel gets picked, a short list of the main characters could be helpful for people unfamiliar with a show.

i got a crossover for you, and i consider it one of the best i've done if not the best. the name of the fic is: The Necronomicon Reopens. This is a Buffy/Evil Dead crossover, and Faith/Xander.

now, dont hate me, but those two fandoms are way overused. there's just too many of them. they're hardly original anymore. granted, the movies were excellent, but they've been done to death.

as for spider-man, x-men, and other DC or Marvle characters. the characters are way too powerful, and they dont exactly fit together. i love these fandoms too, but again. they're overdone.

if you were to go to fanfiction.net, and go to buffy crossovers. about 5/6th of the page is one of the above mentioned crossover. (Im just talking about this post)

star trek is ok--heck, even stargate is ok. but the previous ones are way overdone.

Well, for what it's worth, I've read a great deal of crossover fic since discovering the fandom and some of the best stories I've ever read were stories that crossed either AtS or BtVS with shows/movies I'd never seen or books I'd never read.

It's remarkable when a writer can craft a fic that draws in the unitiated and still weave a compelling, comprehensive and, above all, comprehensible tale.

As for HP and LotR fic being overdone: There's certainly no shortage of stories out there, but if we're ruling out options based on quantity, BtVS/AtS is also off the table, no?

Right. Of course that'd be no. So let's not be hasty and have a blanket elimination of some potentially great fic just because they happen to be of a type that seems overdone.

I agree. There are some wonderful fics out there that are a crossover of LotR and HP and they are just being ruled out as they are 'overdone.' I think this is most unfair and it should be a group choice to rule something out.

Does anyone have any other fics to rec?

If LotR, Harry and AtS are out, so am I.

After following the above thread, I'm going to have to pass. I've held back from posting, trying to keep an open mind, but the idea of reading Ninja Turtle crossovers is not appealing in any shape or form. Esp. if LotRs and AtS crossovers are going to be excluded. Thanks for the opportunity, Jade! I just don't fit in with this group.

i read alot of crossovers other then those too. i myself wrote an evil dead crossover, and a ninja turtle crossover. you heard me, a ninja turtle crossover, and im damn serious about it.

as for the harry potter crosses, most of them are the scoobies are teachers. its basically always the same thing. i have read original ones like when buffy, willow, and xander get turned into kids, and end up going to hogwartz. that's a good read even though its not finished.

Buffy Summers Vampire Hunter is a crossover with the Anita Blake series.

The second is HelLex I: Cast of Thousands which crosses with the Batman and Justice League. It is on the fluffy side but is still enjoyable.

I don't think either story requires prior knowledge of the series to enjoy. Charley does include notes at the beginning to give the basic information about each of the universes.
