I can't believe that the space shuttle "Columbia" has exploded! It's terrible. I am praying for the families of the astronauts. Here's an update on the Sonic Records audition Heather had. They contacted her about recording a song on an upcoming CD of talent identified from the recent auditions. We're reviewing that offer; haven't made a decision. We're trying to determine the distribution & airplay of prior cd's released. Heather was contacted by Sonic Records who offered her an opportunity to record a song on an upcoming cd they will be producing. We are still reviewing that offer. Also, Oakland University ( a local Div. 1 college in Michigan) has requested that she sing the national anthem at some to their mans & women's basket ball games. Heather performed a 3 song audition for the rep. from Sonic Records at the Cabaret Grill in Naperville, Illinois on Sunday night (Nov. 3). The reprsentative from Sonic Records told Heather that he was very impressed and that we would hear someting back in 3-6 weeks (he videotaped the audition & is taking it back to evaluate). Heather will be performing in Chicago, on Sunday, November 3 at the Cabaret Grill after 8 pm. The Cabaret is located on Ogden Avenue in Naperville. If anyone is in "the neighborhood" that night, come on down. Heather will be auditioning for Sonic Records as part of a talent search they are doing. 1. Someone Else's Boy

This song is very calm and pop-y.

I really like when she sings in her lower ranges on this song.

I would love to hear her belt it out, to sing songs that utilize the obvious power in her voice.

Nice job on the harmonies, especially near the end when most of the music drops out (my favorite part).

The slight vibrato in her "oooooos" was beautiful.

>> 2. Stop Losing Your Mind

Excellent guitar intro.

Very relateable lyrics.

The section with her singing the up and down stair-step notes against her own voice is very unique.

Hm, who's playing guitar? ; )

The background vocals are neat - you can tell it's her, but at the same time, it sounds fairly different from her lead voice.

Really like this track.

I love the end, much more soft and raw, great guitar sound with the intermittent lyrics.

>> 3. Likin' Life This Way

Another cool intro with the mild distortion.

Such smooth vocals, I love that she sings in lower ranges so much.

Her natural singing ability is very evident, I wish she had belted it once or twice on this song.

Much faster and danceable song.

Nice tie-in near the end with the sound used at the very beginning.

>> 4.I Don't Need to Know

All of the tracks have such hookable intros.

Mellow pop sound on this one again.

When she is singing along with the guitar... killer! I would love to hear an entire song sung like that.

>> 5. Awaiting

Definitely my favorite!

She just has one of those voices that doesn't need all of the bells and whistles to make it stand out. It is very rich and clean, and easier to appreciate without the pop sound.

For some reason, this one reminds me a bit of Amy Grant or Jewel.

I like the progression and sudden hit of percussion near the end.

Lovely end.

Overall... very well done - she really does have an amazing voice!! And kudos to Dax for another CD well done. =)

P.S. I love the CD insert - the photos are beautiful, and the layout looks great.

Another college has requested a copy of the cd...Emerson College in the Boston area. That's 4 down, and only about 30,000 more to go! But hey, we have to start somewhere, right? What Did You Do Yesterday? -- Brooke, 16:07:58 09/12/02 Thu
So what did everyone do yesterday on the day of the 1 year anniversary of the attacks? I had a job interview and while I was getting ready I watched some of the ceremony at the WTC and the reading of the people who had lost their lives. On my way to my interview, all of the radio stations were either talking about it, people were calling in telling where they were last year, or they were playing songs that contained news clippings from last year. I heard all 3 Hero songs (Mariah Carey, Enrique Iglesias, and Chad Kroger), Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA", Mariah Carey/Boyz II Men, "One Sweet Day" (that song always makes me cry b/c it was played at my friends' funerals several years ago), and many other songs. It was hard to keep from crying on my way to the interview. I didn't want to look terrible. But on my way home, I just let it all go. I cried all the way home and when I got here, I watched the news coverage at the Pentagon and then at the PA site. Then my sister and I went to Atlanta to see the Braves play the Mets (my mom had been given FREE tix from her boss at work; she won a coin toss). :) The pre-game ceremonies were so emotional, but great. As we walked through the gate, they handed us FREE t-shirts that say, "We Shall Not Forget September 11, 2001" and also a sign that on one side had the American Flag and on the other it said, "Atlanta NY". A group of guys sang the National Anthem and God Bless America, and a group of Fulton County Firefighters played a song on the bagpipes as a Bald Eagle soared through the stadium. That was breathtaking. The game was very patriotic. They played songs between innings such as "Born in the USA" and "God Bless the USA." Then at 9:11 we had a moment of silence and immediately after that they showed a video from Major League Baseball with news coverage and then the President of the league saying they didn't know if they should play, but decided to play baseball the next week. And showed clips of Baseball Players making plays and things like that. It was very moving. And of course I prayed when I went to bed. Just sat and thought a little, then prayed to God to give us all strength. Yesterday was very emotional and my heart is just so heavy for those who lost loved ones in this horrible horrible tragedy. I pray for them and they inspire me because I've seen so many of them giving interviews with the media and they show so much strength. God Bless them all. And to me, not only were their loved ones heroes, they, themselves are heroes.

HDad, yes, Wedesday was definitely a very emotional day. I saw "The Sum of all Fears" over the summer and it was OK, but it isn't one of my favorite movies. It was pretty violent. What was that??? Tamyra was kicked off! Does these voters not understand what TALENT is?? In my opinion, Nikki is NOT even remotely in the same league as Tamyra and Kelly. I still like Justin, but I think it's obvious that he doesn't have the whole package like Kelly & Tamyra. I am in SHOCK!! This is just insane! And I feel so bad because I actually forgot to vote last night! I always always vote! Like 20 times! And I just forgot last night. I am just sooo mad. But ya know what? I agree with Randy, Paula, and Simon. She is going to be WAY bigger than American Idol. She will go do her own thing and will be probably the most successful of them all except for maybe Kelly. If Kelly wins this thing (which I think she is the rightful one to win) she will sell a lot of records. But if by some fluke Nikki wins? Kelly and Tamyra BOTH will pass her up. Her album will never do as well as the other 2. Personally, if Nikki wins I won't buy her album. Her voice annoys me. It's tooooo raspy and toooo punk/rock for me. There's no way I could listen to a whole album of hers. But I realllly hope America votes for TALENT and not "image". I'll definitely remember to vote next week for Kelly and Justin. This is just insane. I'm just shocked.

But on a better note, was it not the cutest thing that they did Paula's songs? That was too cute! I knew they'd end up doing something like that before long. I wish Paula would have sang with them, but she probably hasn't sang in a long time. I loved all of her songs! I always loved her. :) Well I will get off my soapbox now. But what is everybody's opinion of Tamyra getting booted tonight??

I am making attempts to get in touch with college radio stations. When I was in college, our radio station welcomed new music with open arms. Saturday night I went to an awesome concert: Creed! If you are a fan of their music, you have to see them LIVE. I love *NSYNC (of course), but sometimes it's just refreshing to see a band actually sit and play for 2 hours straight without costume changes. I'm more about listening to the music than watching a spectacle. And Creed's music is really great. What other concerts has everybody seen this summer?

Ohhh I know what you mean. I saw Kenny Chesney in July and Creed/12 Stones this past weekend, and next month my friends and I may be going to see Nickelback in Knoxville. There's also this huge festival in Nashville that has Nickelback, Default, SR-71, Stroke 9, Unwritten Law, Tonic, Filter (and others I don't know). Ok, if Heather's dad is Hdad, then I am Hfan. I've seen Heather perform live in the Radio Hour musical, I've listened to the jingles and now I've heard her CD. What can I say to those hearing her voice for the 1st time on the CD? Well, she sounds great on the pop-oriented CD, but that's not where you'll hear this 16-yr-old's voice at its most moving. She downright knocked the audience's socks off with the swingy jazzy tunes she belted out live in the musical. I've heard she is equally at home and awe-inspiring with some Broadway numbers. This girl has an audio and visual presence when performing live that the CD just doesn't capture. SOOO... if you live nearby, contact H or Hdad to see if she sings live anywhere in the near future. Do yourself a favor and go check her out. Do her a favor and come back here to post your comments. Let's help out a very sweet girl with a truckload of natural talent. --Hfan

I would also like to welcome everybody to the board! I am Brooke, the moderator/webmaster. I am so excited to be helping spread Heather's name around. She has such an awesome talent and I can only pray that she gets the opportunity to show her talent. I honestly believe that she could outsing most of the "popular" female (so called) vocalists (but I won't name names). Please share the site/message board with everybody you know. Who knows, maybe somebody will "discover" Heather's ability through the site. Let's pray (and believe) that she WILL get a record deal! Good luck Heather!
