1.) Mike had a great idea about trying to get Monster to sponsor us...but we should be looking at other places to sponsor us in case that falls through. I'll be home for 4 months before going to Australia and I will call around the Charleston/Mattoon area to see if anyone is interested in sponsoring us. ALUMNI if you are reading this and work for/own a company and would like to sponsor us We would again, be appreciative.

2) The Creation on our Exec board of a Fundraising Chair Position whose soul responsibility would be to deal in securing Money and support for our club through existing endeavors, and other possible sources would be a great addition to our club in my opinion. This would alleviate a lot of concerns and problems that arises on our team. We do need money and although Rugby is considered a lay man's sport in a financial sense, we need to pay dues to the union, and other necessary things such as equipment.

3) If or when we do repeat the Raffle, we should hand out tickets at least a month before the raffle begins, and make it so that one of the weeks during the selling period is during break so we could sell tickets to our families at home.

4) If we do gain enough money we should put the money into a CD or other forms of secure investment that would allow our money to grow. In this way, the vets could be responsible in that fact that our team in the future would have a strong financial base after we are gone. After we get some extra money say about $1500 we should do this..After time it'll grow and We could steadily increase the amount we put in. This could be in case of possible emergencies or other necessary situations. (I know this is jumping the Gun but I've been doing a lot of thinking).

5) Easy money should not be ignored even if it takes some short time work. If we did all of the money making events that we could have this year, such as the Phone Books, The Crawl, and the Raffle,my estimates put us up at somewhere in the neighborhood of $3,000. Thats a nice neighborhood for such little work. We could pay dues, buy Jersey's and have money left over.

6) Break up the accounts, make it so that there is a small change account, controlled by one person, but most of the money is in a larger account that would need the approval of 2 or 3 Exec members before money could be taken out. This will stop any exec member that enters office from getting "Sticky" Fingers and depriving the Club.

7) We could always sell tickets to a banquet in the future. The tickets could be pre-sold to Alumni, and we could even make it so that there is a 10 or 20 dollars extra added on to the tickets. This way we raise money for the club, and we would strengthen our Alumni base. It wouldn't be hard and If we had a list of Alumni names we could write a general letter and send it out to make sure we have all the costs covered, a couple of months in advance. We could obviously, also post it on the Message board. It would be a great start and I will talk about this with some of the vets.

These are some Ideas, I've been tinkering with. I recognize that some are ambitious, but that does not make them impossible. Some do take money to grow, but others like the raffle, and the banquet take very little. It's a lot but I hope this makes some of the guys on the team think. I'll talk to some of you I'm sure, (Whether the comments will be harsh or supportive, is made to be seen).

I love playing Rugby Here, And my freshmen year was one of the greatest times here at Eastern because of Rugby. The Last two years in my Opinion hasn't reflected what we had two years ago. Friendship and camaraderie among the team was the most I've ever seen in my 3 years playing for this club. It was also the year that we made it very far into the playoffs, and almost played at Ohio State (If not for a missed after try Field Goal). We were feared as a team and we did it while having fun.
This was the year that I saw for the first time that our club was in danger, and I didn't like it.I refuse to sit and watch. Although you might question my ability on a personal, or athletic level, Do Not Doubt my Motives.

Thank You
Erik (BO) Borczon
