"Really? Geez, our entire Tribe is always chattering away in everyone else's heads..." Kalea laughed. "Maybe someday we can take you ta meet 'em, Gabe."
Michael snorted derisively and looked up at his brother. He didn't like these Jellicles, not in the least, but Gabriel was depending upon him... "If you say so, Gabriel," he said quietly. Kaleadora beamed at him; he turned away angrily. Above, the golden eagle ruffled his feathers in an indignant manner.
::Don't worry, Michael,:: Even told his young companion. ::They're harmless. Humor your brother.::
::I know, Evan,:: the boy replied, looking up at his lir. ::But I just don't like it. Gabe's got us, why should he want to hang around with them? Aren't we good enough for him?::
The bird blinked and tilted his head. ::I don't think that that's the issue here, Michael. Something big's going on, and Gabe wants us to be a part of it.::
::Maybe so.::
Kaleadora watched the boy and the eagle curiously for a moment, sensing their link but not prying into their conversation. Suddenly she felt a light tap on her hand as it rested against the dirt, and looked down into the bright, curious eyes of the wolf pup. The tiny liren's excited chatter charmed Kalea, and appealed to her childish side. She put her chin close to the ground to look the pup in the eye.
::My home's not too far away,:: she told Khanada. ::My mumma doesn' know I'm goin' though... yet. I'll tell 'er when we're too far away for her to stop me.:: She grinned. ::We're goin' on a big 'venture! We get to travel all over the place, an' see all sorts of new stuff! It's gonna be tons of fun!:: She giggled in delight, feeling sure that she would enjoy the company of this playful pup. ::Tell Dante that, too!::
Thunder rumbled close overhead. Michael scowled up at the stormy night sky. "We'd better go inside," he said authoritatively.
