Kalea giggled happily. "Certainly not, Nashy!" she said cheerily, tilting her head to one side. "Our new friend seems quite strong and brave. Especially now that he's feeling better." She smiled toothily and was bending to examine Gabriel's feet when there was noise from across the river. She looked up, startled, and saw a young human boy carrying a human female about his age. The boy set the female down beside the river, and then spotted Kaleadora, Nashota, Gabriel, and Rio. He froze, and all color drained from his face. Kalea's mouth hung open, sensing his horror and confusion but powerless to comfort him. The boy stood, shaking slightly, and moved to stand in front of the young woman, whispering something as he did so. He was awfully brave, Kalea thought, to take a stand against what surely appeared to be the stuff of his nightmares.
