at how many of the people I knew/know wound up crisping themselves on drugs or booze.

I always had the stuff all around me, but when you see it while your straight you tend to realize that it just makes people stupid.

I never went much past some beer or an occasional joint. Although there was a short interlude with LSD, but that didn't last long.

I just hope my son is as open-eyed as I was, and is able to sidestep all the pitfalls I see consuming today's youth. I've taught him the best I can and now must let him be his own man and hope some of what I said sunk into that thick Swedish skull.

I think for the most part he has things well under control, and like any young guy makes stupid mistakes now and again. But of course he must learn from those mistakes or he is bound to repeat them.
