Author: Josh [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 07:54:27 04/20/05 Wed Ok, last semester I asked who was the best player from each of the SAC school (past or present players). Now I am curious who was the most overrated player for each school? I think LCU's most overrated player was Matt Paden. Sure, he may not have put up monster numbers or even been noticed by most teams, but they treated him like he was a basketball god at LCU. They love him some much, they hired him to work in the Admissions department. He was good, but good enough to get a sweet job in our Admissions department....I don't know? Your thoughts? I have to laugh at you metioning the guy getting a job in the Admissions office. That is the first time I have heard of an admissions councelor job referred to as 'sweet'. I doubt that any high school students attended LCU because they were recruited by a former basketball player. Steve was a force and carried us in quite a few games. He couldn't be stopped on offense and was stopping 7-footers on the other end. Looking back, I can't believe he wasn't named an All-American that year. As far as over-rated, I'd probably say Dujuan Brown. Before you lynch me, hear me out. He was by far the best offensive player in the league and probably in the nation,in fact, he literally carried us to a few wins (St. Gregs at St. Gregs). However, he really hurt us defensively, especially if he ever got in foul trouble...at least that was the case in the year I played with him. [ Post a Reply to This Message ]

Another guy that was as tough a guy as I ever played with that got overshadowed for 3 years was Brent Ansel. That guy was a significant factor in the post at 6-4. He wasn't built like Scotty Prater, but he had some big nights, always played hard and always executed plays. [ Post a Reply to This Message ]

I look back and wonder how a 6"2' kid from South Dakota ever ended up playing at OBU. I agree with SOD that Brent Ansel got more out of what he had than just about anybody at OBU...he had a great all around game.
