SATURDAY:
(4) OKLAHOMA CITY: (10-8, 18-10) VS. (1) OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN: (13-5, 26-5): The Stars handed OC their first loss of the season back in January. Can they also hand the Eagles their last loss before the NAIA tournament? The Eagles shot extremely well against USAO Thursday and appear to have regained some interest in the game. That's bad news for the Stars, whose playoff run — and season, most likely — end Saturday. Jarred Merrill needs 27 to become the SAC's all-time leading scorer. SEMPERT SEZ: OC by 4.

(6) OKLAHOMA BAPTIST: (9-9, 21-10) VS. (2) LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN: (12-6, 21-8): Should be the better matchup of two great semifinal games. The Bison and Chaps tied atop the conference standings in field goal shooting at 48.9 percent for the season. The Bison board better, but the Chaps shoot better both at the line and behind the arc. The Bison are playing for their lives, but the Chaps are playing to improve their seeding at the national tournament and a chance to be OC's daddy one more time in the SAC championship game. Semmy has given the Bison a ton of unrequited love this season in his predictions, but this time Semmy's not falling for it. SEMPERT SEZ: Chaps by 3.

Might agree with you on the outcome of the OC/OCU game, but not the lasting result for OCU.

They should get an at-large bid to the National tourney.

So far, only two rated teams have lost in the conference tournament and they were 15th and 24 respectively, so no major upsets equates to at-large for OCU.

While I may agree with your assesment of the OC/OCU game, I disagree with that being the end of OCU's season.

So far, no 1 or 2 seeds have fallen in conference tournaments. The highest ranked losers have been #15 and #24.

So I reiterate that the Stars will get an at-large to KC. Book it.

I hope OCU gets to nationals - the Stars deserve it. But it ain't time to rest easy yet.

Right now, there are 11 teams outside the top 31 (plus the eventual EIAC champ, who will get the 32nd spot) who are still alive in the semis or finals of their tournaments. If just three of those teams clinch automatic bids, the Stars are out ...

... unless they win on Saturday and Monday.

I guess I'm just of the mind that the 4th-best team in the SAC is tournament worthy, regardless of the record.

By the way, did you get the Fletcher stuff by email? They ended up doing the first part of the thing in the recital hall at 11:30, then they moved over to the conservatory.
