Holy cow. Three overtimes. However this game ends, it has to be considered one of the best in tourney history.

Unbelievable game ...

What an amazing atmosphere - you can tell everyone in the building had so much respect for both teams.

OC probably should have won - they had a 16-point lead with 11:00 left, but give Azusa credit for making plays with their season on the line.

(OC made plenty of plays with their season on the line, too. Azusa just ended up making a couple of more).

Micah Miles only played seven minutes thanks to some interesting foul issues. His lack of presence inside helped APU come back ... OC dominated the boards until late.

Merrill had 41 points and 15 boards in his final game. Those sophomores are pretty good, too - Harris and Baldwin combined for 39 tonight and 63 for the tournament.

How to explain that a super coach and a great guy like Dan Hays has not just one, but two, seasons end with multiple overtime losses? It's almost unfathomable.

As I moaned and groaned watching the webcast (and keeping an eye on the game I was covering), I thought back to 1988, when OC and Langston played a district playoff game that would never end. Finally, OC had five of its top seven players foul out and ended up having to use a walk-on in the fourth overtime, and Langston won 107-103.

My lasting memory of that game is of Dan Hays coming over and doing the radio postgame, even after such a devastating loss. He is the epitome of class. I feel so bad for him tonight. He just once deserves to get to coach deep into the NAIA tournament, and I really thought this was the year. Players like Merrill don't come around too often, and OC has been fortunate to have had two of them in the last decade.

Hopefully there's another Mauck or Merrill out there somewhere who can carry OC and Dan Hays to the promised land someday.

... that Merrill would average 30, Page would average 20, Harris would average 17.5 and Baldwin would average 15, would you have thought OC would be 2 and done?
