Subject: Article on Vicki's new CD

2/23/2001-Zhao Wei: Will release 2 new albums this year!

Around April this year, Zhao Wei is going to release her new album. Right now, she is cooped up inside a recording studio recording her newest songs in Beijing.

It has already been a while since Vicki has released a music album, which is why she places alot of importance on this new album. As soon as she entered the recording room, she'll start discussing music with her co-workers and producers.

What is the style of this new album? And what do Vicki thinki of this album?

"I think this new album is going to feel more casual than my previous albums. My previous songs were rather serious. Now, many of the young people has already too many problems to face, therefore everyone believes that using a casual approach to life is the best way to deal with it all. But casual does not neccessarily mean not serious. Now, my songs are starting to become more and more casual." {Zhao Wei}

"In the album, there are two songs written by a song writer in Mainland, China. This is the first time I've used someone from Mainland. I've always thought that the song writers of China is very intelligent, and very talented in music. But they have yet to become famous. If given a chance, I'm sure alot of people with like their musics."

Other than using the mainland song writers, this time, Vicki has chosen to change an old song "A thousand word" by Den Lee Juin. THis is a song chosen by Vicki herself. Why? "I've always liked this old song. I've always wanted to sing that song. Later on, Auntie Qiong Yao asked me why I would want to sing it, as the previous singer was so famous for me. I felt that we weren't in a competition. I merely sang it for myself, and because I especially liked that song."

Zhao Wei also says that this year she will release two music album in all. One is for the serie, QSSYMM, which is full of songs from the serie. The other is merely her own album with songs of her own. She hopes to give the fans a new modern feel, a more casual and natural Zhao Wei.
