Translation: Five Hundred Thousand People Welcomes the New Year at New York Times Square (Chinese Newspaper-USA-New York 01/02/01) [Berry's comment: Zhao Wei was there too =D )

On January 1st, after experiencing an extremely strong snow storm, the temperature of New York has decreased to four degrees below zero. However, despite the coldness, in order to welcome a new year and a new century, five hundred people from different places in the world, with different color of skin, stood in the cold wind, waiting and excitly celebrating for the descend of the "Big Apple" (Berry's comment: the "big apple" is a crystal ball that drops at midnight of New Year's eve, lighting a number that says: 2001)

Since three o'clock in the afternoon, people from all places gathered at the famous Times Square. "Little Swallow" Zhao Wei, just finishing her concert at New York, could not resist the temptation of this fun. With her fashion designer-Mei DaNian and others, she also went to Times Square to join the celebration. Zhao Wei was touched by the enthusiasm that all these New Yorkers held even in this coldness. From this event, she truly felt the livelihood of these New Yorkers. Zhao Wei felt that there is a great difference in custom of the way New Yorkers celebrate their New Year outside and how Beijing people would, eating a big meal or to disco.
