Una zona de trabajo y almacenamiento que usa el Basic va desde ($0-$8F). En teoría (y al parecer también en la práctica), si realizas un programita en Código máquina que no interactúe en absoluto con el Basic, puedes utilizar ese rango. Parece que es una opción arriesgada.

También, en la Página Cero, al principio hay concretamente un Byte que no se usa nunca, no es mucho, pero en un C64 un byte es un byte. La dirección es la $2. Casi seguro, aunque hagas algo que ponga a funcionar el Basic, no ocurrirá ningún fallo, porque el Basic no lo usa.
