Date Posted: 00:55:32 09/29/02 Sun It's been a long time since I thought about high school, but the memories I have are good ones. After graduation I enrolled in the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M. After the first year I dropped out and enlisted in the Army for three years. I was the driver of an M-1 Abrams tank with the 1st Battalion 8th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Hood, TX. I left the active Army, and joined the 1st Battalion 141st Infantry in the Texas Army National Guard in May 1997. I also went back to college at UTSA that year. In May 1999 I voulunteered to go to the Army Airborne School through the National Guard. In August 2001 I became a professional recreational SCUBA diver, when I completed the PADI divemaster course. On December 5, 2001 I was activated with A co. 1-141 In (M) for homeland defence duty at an Army Depot near Texarkana, TX. I had to drop out of school once again, and wave good by to my regular job and life for ten months. I was just deactivated on September 23, 2002. No one appreciates a part-time soldier until the shit hits the fan! Now I'm back in San Antonio, and I will hopefully graduate from UTSA in May 2002 right around reunion time. I am trying to become a history teacher. I sure hope the rest of you have found a smoother road to travel these last ten years. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
