Subject: CSS files?

I was wondering if there was a way of simply linking my CSS file to the forum instead of spending hours tweaking the font names and sizes to make sure I've got everything right. I tried putting in a link statement in <head> section (display options page) but didn't seem to make any difference at all.

I decided on the text1 style, and set the font etc on my header. However, when I click through to a reply to a message, I lose all the fonts etc. What am I doing wrong?

Also - any way of having the background image fixed rather than floating? Not important, would just gel better with the look of my site.
