Why Spags, you sound southern already!! I hate to hear about your Grandmother. I lost my Grandmother 3 yrs ago, she kept telling me she wouldn't live to see me graduate college, and she was right. It was very sad cause my sis just found out she was pregnant and it was to be my Grandmother's first great grandchild and she was soooo excited.
But, on the other hand, I don't know anything about your past realtionship, but isn't the first stage so fun?? All the butterflies and goofy grins. Aaaah. Happiness. And don't worry NC will still be here in the years to come, so take your time and have fun!!
