our own tragedies always take precedence over anything else going on. You were suffering the same loss as the families who lost their loved ones in NY, DC, and Penn. It always seems unfair to watch the world go on like everything is great when we feel so badly. Who wrote that poem about death -- Stop all the clocks, put out the sun...etc.??
Anyway that's basically what it's about--the world continuing around us when we feel like our lives have come to a screeching halt.
I always take a minute to think of others when I hear of something tragic happening in the world, but the truth is we don't care enough until it happens close to home. 9-11 was a huge wake up call for us in the States, we've never been hit on our mainland, and I think we all just got caught up in our arrogant superman complex and thought it could never happen. And it was terrible, scary, and heartbreaking, but then I think about all these countries who deal with war everyday and lose people to insane causes on a regular basis--I feel selfish. It was a huge tragedy for us, but we're not the first ones to ever suffer from such a thing--the US really doesn't have networks with lots of world wide coverage, at least not the way the world sees our business so much and so often. We're kind of ignorant about the rest of the world. sad. Ooops, no more ranting.
