I really hope someone can help me, I am starting to get so confused! My daughter is 3, she is all girl, which I will be honest, I am not, I am more of a tomboy, so I am trying really hard to be accomidating, but my tastes are very plain and simple! This is where I need help, I have just been reading through this web site and it has answered alot of question, but rasied alot more. Since a baby everyone has told me that my daughter is beautiful, I think so, but I am bias!!! People still walk up to me in the street and complement her, everyone said I should put her into pageants, finally I gave in (with alot of pushing from my mother in law!!lol) She has now done 3 local pageants and I am obviously doing something wrong. She has long hair, I have tried it down and up, people always comment on how beautiful her hair looks, especially the last one, everywhere I turned people were talking about it. I have tried the more simple pageant dresses, and the more Glitz!
We will try on every dress in the store until that "one" just jumps at you, it all comes together, the shape, the color, her complextion, everything. I always research the requirements for each pageant, what is required and all the rules of what is allowed and what is not. Now I am putting her in what everyone is telling me is the appropriate pageant were, but now some people are saying 'more glitz'.
I was reading on the web page that not to do that, what should I do?
Also people are saying more make-up, this is where I start to have a problem, I usually put pressed powder, eye make up, and all that goes with that (except false eye-lashes) and tinted lip gloss, I thought that was enough for a 3 year old, am I wrong? And I do not do the fake tan thing, because I do not think it would go with her complextion, she would look silly.
The other problem I am having is on stage, she is only 3 so until this last one she would have someone on stage with her. This last time she wanted to do it all by herself, and she did, but everyone in her age group was 4 going on 5 and they were all pros, how does my daughter compete with that without me getting pushy? I want it to be fun for her, but to see her face everytime the girl next to her gets a bigger trophy, it's heart breaking. I want her to enjoy herself but I do not have the money for h/m and coaches. Where else can I get stage advice?
Basically I am asking what am I doing wrong with the dresses?
What should I be doing with her hair?
Should I put more make up on her?
And how do I help her with the stage?
I thought I was doing everything right, but I can't be.
Also I want to say to everyone who is going to state and nationals still as a newbie, you've got guts. I've seen some of these girls and I do not think my daughter will ever be ready for that, no matter how well I think she is doing in my heart!
Anyone who can help me please write back.
Thanks
Emma
