Hi - I have a 5 month old daughter and we are just getting into pageants. She has only done one live pageant (2 mail-ins); a Sunburst prelim (at a mall) and won 1st runner up and we plan to enter the State competition, but thats not until May - so I'll worry about that later - anyway, I would like for her to do more pageants in the meantime. Has anyone heard of Diamond USA? They are having a pageant (also at a local mall)in October and just wanted to know what kind of dress I should buy. At the Sunburst Prelim she wore a halo type headpiece - do judges think this is too "flower girly"? Should I stick with a standard headband with a bow (she has no hair)? Also she wore a baby pink dress, more like a fancy church dress (no crinolin or anything) should I invest in a "pageant dress" that she will only be able to wear for a few months? Also her eyes are blue, should I buy a turquoise dress? (the light pink seemed to wash her out a little) What do judges look for (in prelims) in a 5 month old? Thanks for any advice!

Hi my son (yeah son) just did a Diamond USA prelim in Fl and the girls had on everything from jean dreses to Med Glitz Dresses. At the prelims for Diamond you get a very divers cross section. The judges did not judge at ours the best dressed as they did Beauty it was during line up afterwards. This system scores very high in personality. My son knew the T formation but several of the other kids did not in fact they really did not ask the kids to "model" till after my son went which would have been the 6yr old girls that followed him. The baby grand wore a lilac "church" "flowergirl dress" chiffon over satin skirt and satin bodice and had the strechy hairband bow thinggy (see good thing I have a boy LOL)
Good luck to you and HAVE FUN!!
