First of all - relax! Remember that this is supposed to be fun. Your daughter will pick up on your stress and nervousness and it will not help her to enjoy the experience. Second, do not be afraid to ask questions of the director. I would be leery of any pageant where the director refused to answer your questions or was not helpful. All "newbies" have a lot to learn so asking questions clarifies things for you about a particular pageant (because some things do vary). "Straight" modeling simply means no bouncy pro am walk and no dancing-modeling moves. Do ask your director whether your daughter should turn, wave at the judges or whether she should stand still. Also, ask the director about what she expects as far as make-up, etc. If you go out with her, make sure you wear neutral clothing (preferably slacks) and do not call attention to yourself. Walk out with your daughter and then squat down behind her. There you can whisper to her to smile, etc. Also, don't put too much pressure on her (and you) to win this first pageant. She (and you) will gain experience and knowledge that will help her improve in the future. Good luck!
