Hi, I love this site, just found it today. My daughter is Chinese, adopted, and has just turned 7 in May. We have done two pageants locally and both times she has won 3rd place out of 11 the first time and 14 the second time. We are doing a pageant this weekend. I have someone to do the make-up for me. The hair is my problem. I have not had anyone do her hair where I really liiked it. It has been ok. Her hair is long, almost waist length. We roll it on benders but it will start falling quickly even with allot of hair spray. The last pageant she was in, she was still in the 4-6 cat., so this time is a new age group to us. The little girl that beat her last time had waist length hair and wore it down with a little curl at the end. There was more curl but we had to stand out side in the heat and they were all falling down. What should I do with her hair. Her dress has the opening in the back, with a ruffle around the neck area. Her dress is white.
Thanks
Sandi

Try using Redkens Hot Sets to hold curl. Spray each section well before rolling on hot rollers. Let the hair stay on rollers and cool for two hours. Tease lightly, smooth out and arrange the curls at the bottom. Spray all over with Freeze It in the gold can. Good luck!

I have an asian daughter!! We do lots of up hair styles and tons of barbies. The poster who advised hot sets is correct but they dont make it anymore so you have to find it online. Another good trick is before you go to a pageant, dont wash it for a couple days and see if it gets easier to deal with, on some kids it works, on others it does not.

Try with or without conditioner and trimming it. If her hair is really long lose a few inches, sometimes that helps. My daughters was very long and would not hold a curl for anything, after she got tired of the long hair, she cut it, now it is long again but holds a curl much better.
