Hi, Great site!! My daughter is 10 months old and been in a couple local pretty baby contests and 3 pageants (full glitz, Sunburst and a natural) I think she will do better in the full glitz type pageants. We are in Ohio and the full glitz type are "total package" pageants. I need info on what is acceptable for hair and make up. She has hair past her shoulder blades and her bangs can be slicked over to the side. Her hair is thin though. Someone suggested a hair doughnut. What is this, where can I get one and is it appropriate at this age? Also what kind and how much make up should I use? I have a great headshot that we had retouched and am planning her portfolio. All of the pageants say no more than 10 pictures in the port. how many different outfits should I use? I have talked to several moms of girls in the next older age group and of the 2 year old group and they say they just use Jcpenney, Sears, Olan Mills etc so I'm going to take a few outfits to each one and have alot to choose from with different backgrounds etc. Should I just use plain backgrounds with no props? We have a westernwear, sleepwear, her beauty dress, cheerleading outfit, casual rwb outfit, a hollywood babe outfit, valentines casual wear, swimwear, a pleather skirt and jacket and Christmas outfit w/ bloomers would that be too many different looks to have one pic of each in the port?
Thanks a bunch

As a general rule, if the outfit for the picture is very decorative or very eye-catching, the background should be a little more subdued. On the other hand, if the outfit is not very fancy or if it is very casual, play it up with props and background. As for my personal opinion, don't use 10 different outfits for 10 pictures. 6-8 outfits with one or two repeats is safer and not so confusing. I would recommend using the western wear, beauty dress, cheerleading outfit, swimwear, pleather, and casual RWB outfit for a nice variety. Anything seasonal such as Christmas or Valentine's will seem out-of-place if they are not used during their respective seasons.
