Mert, I don't know about laminate, but I just had hardwoods refinished and also new hardwood in one room. I have not the old string type mop, but, ummm, it has like strips of handi-wipes. I lightly go over them with white vinegar and water. No streaks, no problems! Do you know the kind of mop I'm talking about? They're with those old string mops in Wally World. Personally, I don't care for the Swiffer (that's what you're using). Many people love them though. Since it's an elderly couple, I bet somebody told her to get that and it would be a breeze. Pffft. Not in my book!!

I put in laminate floors in my living room, dining room and hall. I have a large rug in my living not covering all of my floor and one under my table in dining room. I still have a lot of flooring showning in each roon I used something for laminate flooring to mop with and it left streakes so bad. I have used only white vinegar and water no more streakes. I use the mop that you are taking about and it works for me fine. Maybe you are pushing down to hard. As far as feet prints I do get them once in awhile but I make sure my granddaughter has her shoes or socks on. I do think if you use the viegar and water it will help with the feet prints Hope this helps. Carolyn E
