With Geoffo and Porks CAT whats happening there at the moment is---Target in America are rolling the CAT/Visa system out through their department stores---in the Asia Pacific region they are already using contactless transit smartcards with other applications in it-a lot of the stuff used though is not EMV compliant---anyway I was reading that in Europe---the banks at this stage are reluctant to spend on terminals--because the cost of doing it is a little bit prohibitive--so anyway CAT has recently demonstrated it's system on Schlumberger's terminals---and it providres a bridge for interopereability and multi application to the retail side.
The banks don't have enough terminals---but the big supermarkets do---the supermarkets have more terminals than the banks---just a few notes here.
