First off, I posted this verse because it is one of my favorite Biblical passages. Secondly, I encourage you Misty to check out our previous Sabbath studies to learn about the actual 7th day Sabbath that is still required as of this day (from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset- not the traditional first day of the week that most Christians keep). I also would recommend the book "Too Long in the Sun" by Richard Rives, which goes in depth on how the first day Sabbath (Sunday) came to be and also Kent Hovind's Creation Science videos that show how the 7th day in Genesis 2:2 really was a literal 24-hour day. He covers topics like the gap theory, which is what you mentioned (each day being "thousands of years"). If you would like a copy of the Kent Hovind DVDs, please let one of us know, as we can easily send them out to you. Both of these items I mentioned can be found on our "links and resources" page as well.
