Subject: 2004 Kia Spectra air conditining problems

I bought a new 2004 Kia Spectra in April 2004. It seemed like a really great deal. It was cheaper than a Camry or Accord, had a great warranty, and they gave me a good deal for my trade-in. The heater and air conditioner just quit blowing in November, so I took it the dealership near where I work, not the one I bought from. They told me that it probably WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY since I kept things like the car registration, insurance card, and napkins in the glove box and this was probably what caused everything to quit blowing. It ended up being a very big scene in the new car sales area to get them to fix it on the car that was seven months old and had about 18,000 miles, well under the 10 year 100,000 warranty they tell you about. The next time my air conditioner quit working was about two weeks ago, in July, while the upstate of South Carolina was under a heat advisory. The repairs took over a week!! No one wanted to provide a loaner car, despite the fact that I work an hour from home. They put the car back together for me to drive back and forth from work while waiting for parts to come in. I actually got physically sick from the heat. The air conditioner quit working again on Thursday, 8/5, less than a week after they "fixed" it. If I am very lucky the part will be in on Tuesday. I called Kia's customer service line, trting to get them to authorize a rental car (it's still around 97 degrees here). A decision takes at least 24 hours, and my request was denied. They told me that because I have put excessive mileage (it has 43,000) on the car I should expect problems and they aqren't required to do much about it.
I really wish I had found this web-site beofre I bought it.
