Subject: Transmission - failed oil changes will void warranty

Earlier this year I had to have my timing belt replaced and was told that the timing belt is not part of the drive train and I had to pay the entire bill to have it replaced. Ever since they replaced the timing belt my transmission has been acting funny. Just last week I took it back to the dealer to find out why and I even told them I thought my transmission was going. I got a call from them saying I need a new transmission, which was covered under the warranty. They then asked me for all my receipts for all the times I had my transmission checked and the transmission oil replaced. I called the mechanic who had worked on my car and he said that if the transmission wasn't leaking they wouldn't break the seal. Therefore my transmission oil was never replaced and my warranty will not cover my transmission. According to KIA you are suppose to check your transmission oil every 15,000 miles and replace it at 30,000, 60,000 and 90,000. I've had stick shifts my entire life and I have never had to do this before. Something else to watch for.
