Hey Stormy:

Regarding replacement of the timing belt.... quitcherbitchin!

*Every* manufacturer who utilizes a timing belt in their engine design require that the belt be changed somewhere between 60-80k miles.... and always at the owners expense! Feel fortunate that it hasn't broken yet, and your engine is still okay! Do it soon, or else you'll be complaining how KIA won't honor the 100k drivetrain warranty too!

Regarding your brakes and tires..... 5k and 7k sound a little fishy to me! Where do you live? In the mountains?

I'm sure that the 2003 Rios weren't built like tanks, but your experiences (other than being gullible enough to pay $300/$32 for "free" services) are NOT horrific by any stretch of the imagination.

My 2004.5 Spectra has been absolutely stellar over 22k+ miles, and the dealership has treated me wonderfully! Obviously dealership experience can vary from place to place, but I definitely can say that my KIA dealership experience in SE Michigan has been superior to ALL of the Ford experiences I've had, and equal to the Chrysler treatment.

Here's another tip for you: You better get your automatic transmission fluid changed soon if your car has an auto, as well as a coolant (radiator) flush. If your car experiences over heating or transmission problems, your service record BETTER show those recommended services check off. Otherwise you really WILL have a warranty complaint at that time!
