Subject: Bum Carrier Bearings

2 years ago I bought a 2003 Kia Sorento. I have loved it! It was been great driving, great on gas and really cute for me. However, Feb. 2006 I began having probelms and found out my "Carrier bearings" had gone bad. The really upsetting thing was that you can't just replace the bearings..... you have to buy an entire DRIVE SHAFT. Well, of course a brand new one runs 500-600.00. I bought a used one from a junk yard. Now, 8/15/06.......I HAVE TO REPLACE IT AGAIN BECAUSE THE BEARINGS HAVE WORN OUT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!

When I spoke with the service dept where I bought the car, he admitted that he's had to replace a few on other cars because the bearings can't get lube from thier position. He (service dept. manager) was really nice and helpful, but still charging me $500 just for the part. When my mechanic called the Local Kia delearship service dept..... and he questioned was there a problem with these bearings... the service manager said that within the previous 6 weeks he had sold 4 drive shafts! Now to them that may not seem like a lot. But for consumers...... THATS a lot. I have contacted several people at KIA and they are basically NOT doing anything about these defected carrier bearings NOR the fact that you have to replace the entire drive shaft!
