Yes, I also have a KIA Optima 2004 LX. I also have a problem with my car loosing power for no apparent reason. I cannot figure out why. Kia has deniged the problem exists since I bought the car brand new in March of 04. Now my warrenty is up. Kia will take no responsibility in the matter. So I am stuck with an unreliable vehicle. When the power drops, the problem is that the RPMs will not reach approx 2100 - 2200 in any given gear. My intuition says that my problem has something to do with the fuel system. That could cover a lot of items. Personally... I'm not willing to play a guessing game when it comes to my bank account. All of the KIA mechanics I have spoken with are completely incompetant and unwilling / unable to help me troubleshoot. I'm fed up and tired of trying to get anyone in KIA to resolve my issue. I'm going to get rid of this car as soon as I possibly can. I make sure that every person I am in contact with is aware of my situation and how KIA really operates (or doesn't) I will never buy another KIA as long as I live. I recommend a Toyota or a Nissan next time. I had a Toyota 4 runner before. I traded it in on my Kia with 360,000 miles on it. It was running decent even then. I should have bought another Toyota, but I thought I'd give this company a chance....especially with the warrenty. Little did I relize that it doesn't matter how long or good a warrenty is if the company offering the warrenty won't acknowledege or take responsibilty for a problem that occurs in the first place.
Go with a Toyaota or a Nissan,....you won't need a warrenty....they just make good reliable vehicles. It's worth the extra money to have piece of mind. I guess if you buy a cheap car...that's what you've bought. Hard lesson learned. I hope this is of some help.
