Kurt, it seems to me that all sorts of people at different locations very many years ago tried to "explain" the happenings of nature. Something grows -> God or gods doing it. After a rainstorm puddles get smaller -> God or gods drinking that water etc. etc. Religions are probably basically speculations that cannot be proven, while most scientific facts (on a temporary basis until superseded by something "better") are being proven all the time. You mentioned Enstein's E=M*c^2, but I am not convinced that the speed c in that equation is the speed of light and not some other speed. Wouldn't this also depend on the units used and a scale factor? Atomic Physics may have an answer.
