"Well, then I was racing out into this enormous storm. Some flying bark cut me from a tree that got struck by lightening. It seemed so real. I…." Steve cut himself off. He had reached up to touch his face and he felt the cut on his cheek.
"How can this be? How can I be seeing you and talking to you but you're dead and I'm, I'm, not sure what I am." Said a very perplexed Steve Prime.
"Son, you are very much alive. You are just dreaming. And, unfortunately, we are still very dead. We can appear to you in your dreams, though. So, whenever you need us, just think about us as you're falling asleep, and we will appear in your dreams. Till then, just know that we love you very much and we always will." Henry Prime stated, with sadness in his eyes.
"Goodbye for now, my darling son." Emily Prime said as she held back her tears.
"Mom, Dad! Please, don't go. I am so scared and confused. Please don't go." Steve Prime yelled, pounding the ground with his hands.
"You must take care of your bother and sister now. You are their role model now. And there will soon be others joining our family." Hank Prime said. With that, Henry and Emily Prime disappeared, leaving Steve Prime alone in a dark and lonely place. Feeling overwhelmed by the darkness, Steve Prime started to scream. He screamed for all the pain he felt and for the loss of his parents, his best friends. He started to run then. He ran for what seemed forever. He felt something chasing him, but he could not see anything when he turned around to look over his shoulder. Then, suddenly as usually happens in dream, he was standing in a beautiful garden, with many dazzling statues surrounding the perimeter of the garden. Steve Prime stood in awe of the spectacle that was in front of him. Then, out of nowhere, he heard a voice speak to him.
"Steve Prime. You have been chosen. Your destiny lies with the Lost Medallions of Merlin. Seek the medallions and thus, you will find your true self."
"Who are you?" Steve Prime asked, a little frightened still. He was having a hard time catching his breath.
"I am to be your teacher. I am to show you the way of the ancient ways. You will learn the code of the ancients. You will learn the discipline of the ancients. And, most important of all, you will learn the patience of the ancients." The voice commanded out of the surrounding darkness.
"How will I get a hold of you if I have questions?" Steve asked the darkness, knowing already what the answer would be.
"Just think of it, and I will answer you the best I can. Now, return to the waking world. You have much to do, young one."
With that, Steve Prime woke up bathed in a cold sweat. But, he felt remarkably well. He was amazed to see that all of his cuts had healed and he no longer felt pain or anger over his parent's death, just emptiness. He heard a voice inside his head telling him that that to will fade away in time.
Deciding to get up, Steve Prime was amazed to see that it was morning already. He headed downstairs to grab some breakfast before doing whatever it was he had to do today. As he walked into the kitchen, he smiled to himself as he saw everyone's face drop.
"Steve, you're up." Said Todd in disbelief. "How are you feeling?"
"Not bad. Just a little sadden by the news. But I will get by." Steve said with a smile of friendship towards Todd. Todd and Steve had been best friends since he could remember. They grew up together because their parents worked together. Unlike Steve's parents, Todd's parents stayed in the states, working on stuff from their home. Steve and Todd had shared all kinds of experiences together. They had taken Karate classes together. They had taken swimming lessons together. They even took break dancing lessons together. They were like brothers, even more so than real brothers would be.

Later on that day, Todd and Steve headed off to Traverse City to get some stuff and to rent their tuxedos for prom. Even though they were juniors, they could still go to the senior prom because the juniors were hosting it. On the way into Traverse City, Steve was unusually quite. He just sat in the passenger seat, staring out the side window.
"Hey, Steve," Todd nudged Steve in the arm. "You awake over there, man?"
"Yeah, I'm awake. Just thinking." Replied Steve.
"Okay. Where do you want to go first in T.C.?" Todd asked. T.C. was how the boys referred to Traverse City.
"I don't care. How about going to Hocus Pocus first. There are some things there that I want to check out." Steve said, finally looking away from the window.
Todd just nodded his head. He was very worried about his friend. Steve was getting more withdrawn then ever and he was looking very tired, even though he was getting tons of sleep. Todd just didn't know what to do anymore.
"Yeah, sure. That's fine." Todd finally replied.
When they got to Hocus Pocus, Steve actually showed some signs of life. Hocus Pocus was one of his favorite stores to go to. This was because the store carried almost every kind of magic trick possible. They also stocked all kinds of role playing games and costumes of all sorts and sizes. Steve also like this place because, in the same building in the basement level, was an outstanding guitar shop. Steve liked and was good at playing the guitar. Steve Prime was amazing agile for someone his age. He had the dexterity and swiftness in his hands to have become a magician if he wanted to. But, he only pursued magic and guitar playing as a hobby.
"Hey, Todd. Check it out. They have the latest edition of Wizards and Sorcerers. Oh man, I just have to get this." Steve said enthusiastically, rushing about like a little kid in a candy store.
"Hey man, chill out." Todd said chuckling to himself. There was the Steve Prime he knew and was friends with.
As they approached the checkout counter, the old man behind the counter spoke.
"Aren't you Steve Prime?" the old man said in a raspy voice, like he had been smoking cigarettes way to long.
"Yeah, I am." Steve replied. He didn't know who this old man was but, strangely enough, he felt he could trust him.
"I have something for you. It's been here ever since I can remember and I've owned this store for 40 some years. What I don't understand is how it can be addressed to you, and with today's date on it." The man said with a disturbed look on his face. "That's gotta be the damnest thing I've ever seen."
Steve took the package from the man. The wrapping was so old that, if it once was white, it was now a very dingy yellow. It cracked and protested under Steve's hands.
"Thank you, I guess" Steve said, confusion showing plainly on his face.
"Glad to be rid of that damn thing." The old man said, smiling a black toothed grin.
As they walked out of the building, Todd turned and looked at Steve. But Steve was staring at the box very intently. They reached the car and proceeded to hop in. All the way home, Steve didn't say one word to Todd. He just sat there in the passenger seat, staring at the mysterious box. When they got home, Steve went directly to his room. Once inside of his room, he tossed his jean jacket over a chair and sat down in another chair. He sat staring at the box, pondering whether to open it or not. Finally, curiosity killing him, Steve Prime opened the box. Inside he found only a single book. But it was like a book he had never seen before, and yet it looked familiar to him. The book had a worn leather cover and strange writing on the cover. And there was a strange symbol on the cover too. Without opening the book, he went over to the crate that had been dropped off earlier that day at the house. He saw that it was from his parents, dated one day before their disappearance. He opened the crate with some hesitance and a need for some answers. Inside all he found was some ancient artifacts and a strange medallion that he didn't know what to make of. As he sat staring at he medallion, his brain quickly put together the
