strange symbol on the cover of the old book and the medallion. With great enthusiasm, he raced over to where he had left the book sitting. As he held the medallion up to the book, he was astounded to see that the symbols matched exactly. Setting the medallion down next to the book, he picked up the letter his father had written to him. As he read the letter, he began to cry great sobbing bursts that wracked his body as he sat there. He finished the letter and sat there, disbelieving everything he had just read. Setting the letter down, he walked back over to where the medallion and book sat. As he approached the items, a mysterious light began to emit from the medallion and book. As he stood in bewilderment, the light grew stronger. Steve thought to himself that this was the end. Just as the light got to an unbearable degree, Steve heard a voice calling to him. As he peered deeper into the light, he was shocked to see a person standing there. The person was motioning to him to enter the light. Not knowing what to do, Steve quickly looked away. When he turned back around, the light and the person were gone. Everything was as it was before. The book and the medallion sat on the table perfectly still once again. No light shown from these items now.
"Man, that was freaky." Steve thought to himself. "I wonder what it was all about."
Just then, Todd knocked on his bedroom door.
"Steve, do you want to go with me to the school and help set up decorations for tonight's prom?" Todd asked.
"Yeah, sure. I need to get out anyways." Said Steve with some relief in his voice. He needed to get away from the book and the medallion and get some fresh air.
Todd and Steve sped away in Todd's car heading towards the school. With most of the spring already gone, they were both looking forward to this evening's prom. As they disappeared in the darkness of the night, a lone figure looked out from Steve's bedroom window.
"He has to except what and who he is or all is lost."
"He will. Just give him some time."
"Time is running out. We both know that. The dark man draws ever closer. You know he was spotted in Boston the other day by one of our contacts."
"Yes, I know. But we can't push him, or he will not want to do this."
"Want to or not, he is all we have left. He has to embrace the medallion."

Chapter Two
Todd and Steve arrived at the school and proceeded to bring in the supplies they had in the trunk of Todd's car. Todd's car was a brand new GTO, decked out to the max. It had a Pioneer car radio system in it with an attached disc changer, the latest technology. He also had leather seats and a radar detector mounted to the dash. It was a five speed manual transmission, so Steve could never drive it because he had never learned how to drive a stick shift. And Todd refused to show him how on what Todd referred to as his "baby".
When they walked into the school's gym, they were greeted by two of the most beautiful girls on the earth; at least that's what they thought. Jennifer and Julie Byron were sisters and twins. Jennifer stood about five feet and nine inches and had an hourglass figure. She had wavy, dark brown hair and a pair of deep, blue eyes that just sparkled with life. Her sister, Julie, had long, straight brown hair and a pair of sunburst, hazel eyes that were framed by a magnificent pair of glasses. She also had an hourglass figure and she stood about five feet and six inches.
"Hey guys. It's about time you made it." Jennifer said, looking rather upset.
"We hurried here as fast as we could, Jennifer. It's not like you gave us any warning or anything." Todd said hotly. He had a crush on Julie but Jennifer always seemed to get his goat.
"Yeah, Jen. We rushed here as soon as you called." Steve said. He had a crush on her in a bad way.
"It's okay. Never mind her. She's just upset that everyone bailed at the last minute that was supposed to help us." Julie said in a sweet voice.
"I'm sorry, guys. I really do appreciate the help." Jennifer said shyly, trying not to look at Steve.
"It's okay, Jen. Now let's get to decorating." Steve said as he raced past Jennifer and threw a streamer in her hair.
"Steve Prime, I'll get you for that." Jennifer said as she was laughing. She raced off after him, silly string in hand.
"There they go again, Julie." Todd said as he slid up next to Julie.
"Yep, can't take those two anywhere." Julie said and then laughed.
As the night wore on, the four of them worked like crazy setting up for the prom. Around eight that night, the first people started showing up for the prom. Shortly after that, Todd, Steve, Jennifer, and Julie finished setting up and went to get ready for the prom. Since they knew they would be cutting it close, timewise, they had all brought their dresses and tuxes with them to change into.
Steve and Todd walked into the men's locker room in the gym to change. Todd's locker was on one side of the room and Steve's locker was on the other side. They had wanted lockers near each other, but they had all been taken already by the seniors.
"Man, I can't wait until we're seniors. We get the top choice of lockers and everything else." Todd stated to Steve.
"Yeah, I know what you mean. This yelling across the locker room isn't much fun." Steve shouted back.
"So, are we still planning on taking the girls out after the prom to Blossoms in T.C.?" Todd asked.
"Yeah, as far as I know." Steve replied back. The plan was to take the girls out on the town after prom was over. Blossoms in T.C. was a late night place were you could get stuff to eat at any hour of the night. And it was pretty good food, too. And then they would go to their favorite dance place to finish off the night. Or so they planned.
Steve and Todd exited the locker room looking very sharp in their tuxedos. They made their way back into the gym. Upon entering the gym, all eyes turned to look at them. Steve knew that many of them would be offering their condolences all night long, but he didn't mind.
