Subject: It's not Congress so much as the public
In reply to: MaryAnne 's message, "Re: Underwear bomber singing like a canary" on 11:11:06 02/10/10 Wed

Going by polls that have been 60%+ at some time in the last six months, the public wants no stimulus spending, just more roads, bridges and unemployment, wants to win the war on terror without fighting or keeping the military outside the country, wants smaller government that provides more intense regulation of banks, a balanced budget achieved without cuts while cutting taxes.

The public has gone nuts. The whole US sounds like a spoiled baby crying IWANNA. The current status in Washington is a reflection of this.

NOBODY wants hard choices. Every time anyone in office makes a hard choice, and Obama has made several, they get slammed for it. There is NO, absolutely NONE, of the support the President used to get for making hard choices, and none for any Cabinet member or even Senator.

If someone in Congress makes a hard choice, they get booted in the primary.

In short, the US is currently ungovernable.

This is seen as fracturing and weakness by our enemies, and we are going to be fighting WWIII in not too many years because of that.
