I think you're just beginning to see Obama calling Republicans' bluff in another area. He's called for a meeting with Republican and Democratic leaders this week to discuss healthcare.

For a year, Republicans have cried foul for not including their ideas (although several of their ideas are in the pending bill) and bemoaned the lack of transparency. Now the shoe's on the other foot. Obama will have it televised, countering the transparency complaint and Republicans will have to show they really do have a plan--a claim they've made for a year. They promised they'd release their bill in April of '09. Then they found one excuse after another for not producing it. When they did put together several pages, it had no numbers in it. How can you insure every American and not increase costs? Where's the CBO's scoring of it?

Obama will put out four measures Republicans would ordinarily voted for under different circumstances so now they're going to be forced they to want bipartisanship or left with egg on their faces, just saying "no!"

I got to watch developments from a hospital bed. Went to the ER Tuesday morning with chronic adema in both legs and pain. More Dopplers and they found a clot so now on blood thinners and four more prescription. Got released Friday night but the bad news is that I won't get to have the hip replacement as soon as I hoped. Ever hear of Murphy's law?
