Subject: Rather astonishing to me

The election seems to be just crazy this year. There seems to me to be a clear choice, rule by the rich or rule by the disorganized.

Anyone who doubts we already have rule by the wealthy needs to simply examine the daily news for a couple weeks. Or read the report of the IG for the TARP.

I cannot understand this crazy determination to fragment the country down to the tiniest imaginable separating point.

And the idea that we'll somehow balance the budget by cutting taxes has now gone past ludicrous and into insane. The ratio of tax to GDP has never been lower in the modern era, and we certainly aren't seeing some huge benefit.

Moreover, the Republican pledge is just laughable. They pledge not to cut SS or Medicare or the military, cut taxes and balance on what's left. Ok boys, go home, because you just "balanced" yourself out of any budget to run Congress, and guess what, you still aren't in "balance". EVERYTHING sans those three items would have to be removed, and you'd still not be in balance. This is farcial!

Either raise taxes or quit pretending you think balancing the budget is important. Anything else is stupidity at this point.
