Subject: The Hooded Angels: the Ugly

The language was ugly. Actors shouldn't swear. I don't say this because of moral qualms, but, because most actors can't do it, and make it sound good. Like in this film. Our Amanda is one of the few who can, and she was one of the few who weren't swearing in the film

The sex was ugly. The old "Grab-the-male-and-have-sex-with-him-in the-bath" joke. Here was all punchline and no build-up. Look at the same joke in "Lair of the White Worm." At least there was some buildup to the punchline in tha film.

As for the mandatory lesbian love scene. The ones in "The Rainbow" were far more erotic, if more explicit, then the one in this film.

The violence was ugly. There was no reason or point in it. At least the violence in "Open Range," which was more explcit, then the violence, in this film, was there to point out that violence is often violent.

And the violence was unrealistic in this film. Here you have a woman who has most likely never killed anyone with a pistol nor most likely even fired a pistol, killing four or five men with five or six shots. Not likely. As compared to "Open Range," where you have had men, who have fired pistols and most likely killed other men with these pistols, emptying their guns at each other and not hitting each other. That is more likely.

Until next week . . . Enjoy!
