>There are a couple of things that date the movie as being in the '60's or '70's. One is the car that our Amanda drives in the movie. Jaguar stopped making that make of car in 1973. Of course, there are people who refuse to drive the latest make of car and drive only classics, which that car is.

Something that would seem to be a stronger indication that the film was set in the '60's, is the scout or boy scout uniform that Kevin (Pitt) wears in the film. That uniform he wars was replaced by a new style of uniform in 1967. The hat he wears is even more out of date. That style of headwar was being replaced by the beret as early as 1945. Of
course, the director, Ken Russell, is something of a jokester, so it would not be beyond him to put an actor in something that is so outdated.

On the other hand, not only does our Amanda's cd date the film from a later time, but, so does Lord James' (Grant's) cellphone and speaker phone.

Thus, I always tend to date a film as occurring in the year that it was released, unless there is something in a film that specifically says that it occurs in the past or future.
