Knowings
That part of the film was shot in "real time," or the normal time for some of the actions is the same as if the actions had occurred in real life.
From that we know that it took Kevin (Chris Pitt) four hours and five minutes to travel, by foot and car, from where he was staying in the morning to Temple House. So, if he left a hour after sunrise or about 7:30 a.m., he would have gotten there at 11:35 a.m, but, we know from a time chart (which I'll post later at this site) that he did not get there until 4:53 p.m. But, . . .
Presumings
He arrived at Temple House on a Sunday, or more specifically the first Sunday in March of 1988 or Sunday, March 6. And if we presume as a good, devout Christian he attended church that Sunday, even if he was away from home, we can then presume that church services began sometime between 9:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. and ended sometime between 11:00 a.m. and 12:15 a.m. Now instead of having to acoount for five hours and 18 minutes, or the time between 11:35 a.m. and 4:53 p.m., we only have to account for one hour and 48 minutes or 33 minutes, or the time between 3:05 p.m. or 4:20 p.m., the time of leaving church plus the four hours and five minutes it takes him by foot and car to get to Temple House or 4:53 p.m. or his arrival at Temple House. And that amount of time can be accounted for by having him eat lunch near wherever he was staying.
Of course, we have to account for the time between his arrival at 4:53 p.m. and Lord James' (Grant's) arrival at 5:46 p.m. at Temple House, as Lord James arrived after dark, or about 5:46 p.m., but, we can account for some of that time, which we will do next time.
