Probably the three worst emails that I have received at work were not in the normal context as described in our reading as bad, they were just irritating. I am the one most generally sending the emails and because I try to get them out so quickly I may not read them over as well as I should, I am sure my grammar and speech is not as good as it should be. However, the most irritating to me is dealing with my Board President. He is a wonderful man, but when I send emails asking for assistance or providing him with information, his emails to me are always clipped and usually are one sentence long. It is very frustrating to need a little more guidance or want a bit more information and receive very little. However, under the understanding of communication, I try and remember that he is a very direct person and does not need to expound on his words, he believes that the shortest most direct answer is the best. So I live with it. Probably the other most frustrating is receiving an email from a collegue that deals only with statistics without explaining rationale and explaining where he is coming from or what he wants in response to his email. But, again, this person does this in person and is very difficult to have a conversation with. I would also have to say that flaming emails are my pet peeves. However, having been the receipt of one from a family member I have to look at how she may have perceived my communication to her and I tried to work it out in the end.
